The Cape Town office gets synthed...

Okay, i know that Louis did the initial post on this and its not really search related BUT Microsoft does have a wee search engine called live so I think this is relevant. I am really impressed to see Microsoft pioneering some awesome new technologies that actually work and are easy to use.

Louis and I took a few quick snapshots of our office here in Cape Town and synthed them together with Microsofts new photosynth. We need a bit of practice but I reckon its not bad for a first try...

The Cape Town office

You will need to install a plugin from microsoft to view it, I promise it is worth it...

The static imagery doesn't really do it justice... I recommend you go ahead and check it out...

South African Blog Awards 2008

Last night the Tamar Cape Town team attended the annual South African Blog Awards, rubbing shoulders with the who's who of South African blogerati. The awards, started by Jonathan Cherry in 2005, showcase blogs both written in South Africa but also blogs written by South Africans abroad. Judging this year was done by a panel of 14 judges, and by the general public who made up 70% of the votes.

Prizes consisted of wine from Warwick Estate, laptop computers from Dell, an iPod and an XBox 360. This year each winner also received an indigenous tree from Stodels Garden Center, adding a nice green touch to the event.

Of the 22 categories, here are the ones that are most notable:

South African Weblog of the Year

Thoughtleader

Best Overseas South African Blog & Best SA Blog about Food and Wine
Cooksister

Best SA Blog about Technology / Computers / Web Development
Imod

Congratulations to all the winners!
