Mobile internet usage up

By Neil Jackson | 07 February 2008

Almost 25% of mobile users are online

The Mobile Data Association has reported an increase in mobile online browser usage in December. Month on month figures showed an increase from 16.2 million users to 17.5 million users accessed the internet via their phone.

While the figures include those downloading ringtones Mike Short, Chair of the MDA, said this increased usage may be attributed to better phones and more accessible data plans. He went on to say 'new devices, competitive data tariffs and wider content choice mean it has never been easier for users to send an email, take a picture or access internet content'.

For those interested in the mobile sector the MDA has an interesting view on the possible technology trends for mobile in 2008.

I for one cannot live without being able to go online with my mobile. Whether it answering pub questions, (OK, cheating!) getting directions to a new office location or keeping up to date with news and sports it really is very easy to do.
