There is no use cutting corners when it comes to SEO.

By Myles Wilson | 10 January 2008

Almost everyone with a website has probably received an e-mail from a black hat SEO company that  guarantees a #1 ranking in Google without telling you exactly how they intend to do it.

It’s interesting to read about a rather shady black hat company called Traffic Power. Matt Marlon, CEO of Traffic Power has found himself in jail and not made himself many friends.

As we all know there is a lot of work that takes place to get sites ranking well. People tend to be consistent, particularly when it comes to behaviour and playing by the rules. In the case of Mr Marlon and Traffic Power the connection is clear for all to see.

Fortunately the SEO industry has evolved in the last few years and legitimate SEO companies are gaining the respect that they deserve and the dodgy ones are rightly being found out.
